Privacy Policy

Lexi Citizenship ("we", "us", "the app") is operated by Gerardo Fernández. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights over it.
1. Data we collect
- Account: email address, display name, and (when you sign in with Google) your profile photo URL. When you use Sign in with Apple and pick "Hide My Email", we receive a private relay address (e.g.
xxxx@privaterelay.appleid.com) — we treat that as your account email and never attempt to resolve it back to your real one. - Onboarding choices: exam type, study goal, optional home address — used only to compute your congressional district and personalize civics questions about your representatives. The address is never shared.
- Study progress: which civics questions, N-400 prompts, reading and writing exercises you've completed, your scores, streaks, and XP.
- Device data: Firebase Cloud Messaging token (for study reminders), IANA timezone, app version, OS version. Used for push notifications and crash diagnostics.
- Voice and speech recognition: when you use speech exercises, your device's speech recognition service converts your voice into text. Lexi does not store raw audio or send raw audio to our servers. Only the transcribed text is evaluated, and that text is not stored long-term. On iOS, recognition runs on-device when your hardware supports it; older devices may stream audio to Apple under your iOS Speech Recognition setting. On Android, recognition is handled by Google's on-device or cloud recognizer per your device settings.
- Purchase records: if you subscribe to Lexi Premium, RevenueCat (our payment processor) records your subscription status. We never see your card.
2. How we use it
- Run the app — track progress, personalize questions, adapt difficulty.
- Send you study reminders if you opted in (you can disable these in Profile → Notifications).
- Diagnose crashes and improve the app via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics. We never sell your data.
- Process subscriptions through Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
3. Where it lives
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore + Firebase Auth + Cloud Functions), hosted in the United States. Firebase is operated by Google LLC under their privacy terms. Subscription metadata is also stored by RevenueCat under their privacy policy.
4. Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing. We share only what's strictly necessary with:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, push delivery).
- RevenueCat (subscription state and webhook delivery to our server).
- Google AdMob (when ads are shown to free-tier users; AdMob may use your advertising ID to show contextual ads — you can reset it in your phone settings).
- Apple (only when you choose Sign in with Apple — Apple shares your verified email or a private relay address with us and nothing else).
5. iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
On iOS, the first time the app would otherwise share your advertising identifier (IDFA) with Google AdMob you will see Apple's standard tracking permission prompt. Choosing "Ask App Not to Track" is fully supported — the app keeps working in exactly the same way and you will still see ads, just less personalized. We never offer rewards, free trials, or any other incentive in exchange for opting in to tracking. You can change your choice any time from Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
6. Subscriptions
Lexi Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). The price and renewal period (e.g. weekly, monthly, yearly) are always displayed on the paywall before purchase. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase. You can manage or cancel from iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions or Google Play → Subscriptions. Refunds follow Apple's and Google's published policies — we do not process them directly.
7. Your rights
- Access: email gerafc79@gmail.com for a copy of your data.
- Deletion: open the app → Profile → "Delete Account". This removes everything: your user document, study progress, N-400 profile, ranking entries, FCM tokens, and your Firebase Auth account. The deletion is immediate and irreversible. Subscription cancellation must be done through Apple or Google directly.
- Correction: you can edit your display name, exam date, address, and notification preferences from inside the app.
8. Children
Lexi Citizenship is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes
If this policy changes meaningfully we'll show an updated acceptance prompt inside the app before continued use.
